What is faith, and what is a mark of having it? The most important verses in Scripture are: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31) If we have faith, we will seek to obey and follow this. What might be an obstacle to this? One temptation is to show favoritism. Practically speaking, this means loving and showing kindness to those we like, while withholding it from others. If we have faith, we are to avoid favoritism and put it into action with ALL people. This is not easy . . . and yet this is our call!
