Outreach Team

Who We Are

The Outreach Ministry team of First Reformed Church has been redesigned to inspire outreach beyond our membership beyond our membership. Our minstry goal is to build bridges to those who do not know Jesus Christ and provide opportunities to them to respond to a clear gospel message.

Our focus begins with visitors to our building and/or activities, and reaches out to our Fremont community and beyond. We are organized around a structure of "sub-teams" in order to better focus on specific areas of ministry. Currently we have identified three sub-teams: Global Missions, Community Outreach, and Service Projects. We believe individuals will be better able to use their gifts an passions when they target and serve in their area of interest, gifting, and calling.

We're looking for people who believe they could make a positive contribution on one or more of these teams.  Teams will meet as needed. and two or three individuals on a team may work together to accomplish specific goals, such a creating informational brochures to introduce people to the ministry of FRC, planning the Missions Fair, organizing the next totally free car wash, or planning a short term missions project. Each team will determine who of their members are best suited to serve on a given project.

We're praying that God will draw close those who He's prepared to serve in outreach ministry to our Outreach team. If you feel the tug as you consider serving the Lord in an Outreach ministry, please contact us.

Global Missions

This ministry looks most like our former Mission Committee and focuses on supporting others who are faithfully helping to spread the gospel. This team will:

  • Work to develop and maintain FRC's budget to support missionaries and ministries that are working to promote the gospel and/or Christian values throughout the world.
  • Prioritize support for current missionaries and ministries.
  • Determine which missionaries or ministries will be supported by FRC.
  • Keep the congregation informed relative to the missionaries/ministries we support through written materials, poster boards, mission fares, etc.
  • Arrange speaking opportunities for our missionaries here at FRC.
  • Pray for our missionaries/ministries.
  • Consider new ways to minister in this area.

Community Outreach

This team was initiated in early 2006 to create an awareness for the need to reach our neighbors with the love of Jesus and provide ways to do that together. This team will:

  • Promote awareness in our congregation of our major responsibility and priviledge to be used by Jesus Christ to seek and save the lost.
  • Create a warm, inviting atmosphere within our building and services. (Hospitality Team, Welcome Center,  etc.)
  • Acknowledge visitors and encourage them to return.
  • Create informational/promotional materials to FRC.
  • Consider, promote and conduct outreach events, and recruit volunteers for the same.
  • Work with Worship & Music, Discipleship, and Fellowship teams to encourage outreach opportunities in their respective ministries.
  • Work with Consistory to bring focus to our community ministry in order to achieve maximum effectiveness.
  • Promote participation of FRC members in seminars and conferences that address reaching the lost for Christ.
  • Identify and add library materials promoting an outward focus.

Service Projects

This team is still a vision, waiting for leadership and structure. This team will:

  • explore possibilities for service projects
  • maintain files and records on various service projects
  • select specific projects (such as Habitat for Humanity, short-term missions, etc.) and organize all details required for participation in such projects
  • actively recruit workers for specific projects
  • sponsor fund-raisers when necessary

Food Collection for NCCS
Submitted By: Luke Stroven | Date: 2-26-09, 1:40 pm | Category: Outreach Team

If you are able to pick up an extra item or two when you go grocery shopping, bring the items to the table at the south entrance of the church and it will get delivered to the NCCS.  There are many hungry people in Newaygo County that would greatly appreciate your gift of food.
